For Dr. Novosad, coming to Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists was like coming home. A Houston native, he started working at a local veterinary clinic in Houston when he was in high school. After he graduated, he knew he wanted to become a veterinarian and did his undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University before completing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York. Dr. Novosad subsequently completed a medical oncology residency program at The Animal Medical Center in New York.

After practicing for six years in Dallas, Dr. Novosad returned to the Houston area at the request of SLVS’s founder, Dr. Charlie Quick. The two had met and worked together while Dr. Novosad was in veterinary school, and Dr. Quick knew he was the right person to start an oncology department at his specialty hospital. Now Chief of Staff, Dr. Novosad steers the hospital by the same guiding principle Dr. Quick embodied: do the right thing—for the pets, the pet owners, and the team of clinicians.

As the leader of a specialty clinic, Dr. Novosad knows the importance of creating strong, collaborative relationships with referral partners. His vision for SLVS is one where its team of specialists and emergency veterinarians work not as an alternative to, but as an extension of primary care practices, communicating closely with their doctors and pet owners to deliver exceptional care that meets the moment.
