Katy has been in the veterinary field since 2010 and joined the SLVS team in 2013. After much hard work, in 2015 she became the ICU Manager. When not taking care of everyone else’s 4-legged babies, she spends her time with her 2 daughters, dogs and cat. Her daughters are active 4-H members which they raise show pigs. Her family usually spends time outdoors, in water recreation or volunteering.
Gerri grew up in the Houston area (mostly Kingwood) and graduated high school in 2009. She then graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in August of 2013 and became a licensed veterinary technician in March 2014. Gerri is currently attending Tarleton State University to get her Bachelors of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. She has 1 cat, Lucy, and she is her world! Animals have always had a special place in Gerri’s heart and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. She spends her free time with family and friends.
Gissel is a native Texan, born and raised in Aleif she graduated from Elsik High School in 2013. Gissel then attended University of Texas at San Antonio for 2 years studying Biology. She then realized, that what she really wanted to work with animals, and quickly enrolled in Vet Tech Institute of Houston where she graduated in December 2018 (with a 4.0 GPA). Gissel performed her externship at SLVS and immediately fell in love with our ICU section, upon completion of her externship she was hired full time.
Yvette was born in South Texas (Rio Grande Valley), raised in Northern California, and Mexico. She has always had a passion towards animals and shortly after graduation high school in The Valley she decided to move to Houston, and enroll in the Vet Tech Institute of Houston. She recently graduated with her Associate of Applied Science Degree, and obtained her LVT in 2016. Yvette started working at SLVS in December of 2016 in our ICU section. Outside of work Yvette enjoys music, art, nature, and spending time with her boyfriend (Hayden) and 2 cats (Pickles and Ozzy). Her dream/goal is to travel as much as life will allow her.
Jimmi is originally from Montana, later moved to Ohio and lived there until about 3 and a half years ago when she moved to Texas to get away from the cold and snow. Jimmi has a background in large animal veterinary medicine and attended The University of Findlay. She first learned about small animal medicine after moving to Texas. She currently lives in Webster with her fiancé Justin and their cat (Mr. Beans) and dog (Zoey). Jimmi has always wanted to work in specialty/emergency medicine. In her free time, she enjoys rodeos and competing at barrel racing events on her friend Ariel’s horse Duke.
Tilani spent her school years in Houston and her summers in American Samoa with her mom’s family. Tilani graduated from The Vet Tech Institute in 2010 and passed her VTNE/State exams in 2011. She started off her career in veterinary medicine in small animal day practice. In 2018 Tilani joined the SLVS Intensive Care Unit section starting her career in specialty medicine. Tilani and her husband Ronnie have fostered for Shaggy Dog rescue since 2012. Tilani, an avid Astros fan has even traveled out of state to watch her team play. In her spare time Tilani, enjoys traveling with her three-legged “foster failure” Watson on road trip in their van turned camper.
