PAWtner Up With The PAW Grant!

What Is The PAW Grant?

The Packs Achieve Wellness (PAW) Grant- is a 501c3 through the Veterinary Care Foundation.

The PAW Grant is sustained from the donations of PAWtners, who help SLVS24EC grant opportunities to wellness for pets whose families are experiencing financial difficulty. Through PAWtner donations and our compassionate team, the PAW Grant exists to reduce economic euthanasia and pet suffering. By reducing pet suffering and economic euthanasia, the PAW Grant alleviates stressors identified in contributing to veterinary professional depression/sucidie, compassion fatigue and burn out.

How Does The PAW Grant Work?

Here at SLVS we offer three alternative payment options: Care Credit, Scratchpay and the PAW Grant.

Just like the other payment options, there are some approval criteria that needs to be met:

  • The pet has a fair or better prognosis with medical intervention as determined by the veterinarian in charge of the pet’s medical care.
  • The pet parents are unable to pay for a portion of medical treatment.
  • The pet parents were denied by Scratch Pay payment plans or extension of Scratch Pay funds denied.
  • The pet parent made a good and honest effort to phone a friend or family member for financial assistance.
  • The pet parents were able to pay something towards care- unless extenuating circumstances are in play.

These criteria may seem a little strict, but we want to make sure that our grant aids the pets and families that need it the most, like Pickles, Honey and Tumbleweed.

Pickles, Honey and Tumbleweed each have a unique story, with a very similar outcome! Each of these pets came into our hospital requiring emergency care. Thanks to our PAWtners who donated to the PAW Grant, they were able to receive the care they needed.
